ABOUT

The People’s Racing team originated in 2019 with zero previous desert racing experience outside of driving a Rhino (and rolling it…). After team owner Bernard Steimann was able to test drive a friend’s LS powered 4-seater Playtech Racing prerunner buggy, he was persuaded into buying it and to come out to a SNORE race. He then called upon friend Chris Kreidel to come co-drive and navigate for him, whom had the same amount of previous experience… what could go wrong?

From the first race, they were hooked. Not knowing the difference from a class 1 and a class 11, they went in head first. They ended up in 2nd place in the SNORE 250 in the Sportsman class. Under the help and guidance from Playtech Racing and Jeff Quinn, they started to learn the basics, and began a long journey of both easy and hard lessons as they attempted to uncover the thousands of details, practices and tricks that the average person accumulates in this sport from childhood.

After a few more races, it was determined that our pre-runner buggy needed a lot of work to be full-time race-worthy. Additionally, all of the trucks on the course not only look a lot cooler, but apparently ride a lot nicer. The opportunity came up to buy the old BMS Householder Motorsports truck (set up then as a 6100) which was a proper race vehicle, and seemed to be the perfect fit to step up into the truck game. Their backs thanked them as well. After a couple “learning experiences” and a break from racing due to COVID and a back surgery for Bernard, the truck was stripped, re-engineered, and continues to be rebuilt into a more modern Trophy Truck.

In 2021, a new Herbst Smith Fab truck (TT 69) was ordered and received, with all of the options ticked, including the Joe Gibbs JD1 motor package. The truck debuted at the SNORE Battle at Primm, where it was rolled on the first day, and finished 2nd overall on the next day. Shortly after, they ran the 2021 Mint 400 and managed to finish 4th, despite losing 3rd gear in the beginning of the first lap. The SNORE Caliente 250 brought the overall win, being only the 2nd truck (first TT) to get the overall. They continue to push and learn, while making sure the truck looks as good as it performs.
